Estonian companies can apply for funding through three international Eureka cooperation calls. The currently open opportunities are the 11th Eurostars 3 call, Eureka Biotech Call 2026 and Eureka Lightweighting Call 2026, which focuses on lightweight materials and resource-efficient solutions.
The calls are intended for companies wishing to develop new products, technologies, processes or services together with international partners and bring the resulting solutions to international markets.
If a project receives a positive funding decision, the activities of the Estonian company are funded by the Estonian Business and Innovation Agency (EIS). Funding may amount to up to EUR 500,000 per project. The exact funding rate depends on the size of the company, the project activities and the conditions of the specific call.
Eurostars 3 – 11th Call for Projects
Eurostars supports international research and development projects that result in a new or significantly improved product, process or service with a clear route to market.
The call is not limited to a particular sector. It is suitable for projects in areas such as industry, digital technologies, health, energy, green technologies, materials, food and agriculture.
The project must involve international cooperation, and the consortium must be led by an innovative small or medium-sized enterprise. Large companies, universities and research organisations may also participate. Starting from the 11th Eurostars call, Estonian large companies are also eligible to apply for funding from EIS.
The application deadline is 10 September 2026 at 14:00 Brussels time.

Eureka Biotech Call 2026
Eureka Biotech Call 2026 is aimed at companies developing biotechnology products, processes, services or digital solutions.
The call covers areas including:
- biomanufacturing and new production technologies;
- next-generation medicines and therapies;
- agricultural and veterinary biotechnology;
- bioinformatics and the use of artificial intelligence in biotechnology;
- biosensors and molecular diagnostics.
The project must involve at least two independent organisations from at least two countries participating in the call. All partners must have a meaningful role in the project, and the solution being developed must have clear market potential.
The application deadline is 25 September 2026.

Eureka Lightweighting Call 2026
Eureka Lightweighting Call 2026 supports international research and development projects aimed at creating lighter, more resource-efficient products, materials and manufacturing processes with a lower environmental impact.
The call covers areas such as:
- lightweight design and manufacturing;
- new and more environmentally sustainable materials;
- reducing product weight and material consumption;
- product repairability, reuse and recycling;
- digital twins, machine learning and life-cycle assessment;
- digital traceability of materials;
- circular economy business models.
The call is open to companies from a wide range of sectors, including machinery, automotive, aviation, space, maritime, energy, construction, healthcare, agriculture and forestry.
The project consortium must include at least two independent partners from at least two countries participating in the call. Estonian companies are required to complete a pre-application consultation with EIS before submitting an application.
The application deadline is 8 October 2026 at 17:00 Central European Summer Time.

How to Apply
For all three calls, the project must be prepared together with at least one international partner, and a joint application must be submitted through the Eureka application system.
Following a positive international evaluation decision, the Estonian company submits a separate funding application to EIS in accordance with the applicable Estonian funding conditions.
Building an international consortium, agreeing on the division of responsibilities and preparing a joint project budget takes time. Companies are therefore advised to begin searching for partners and preparing their projects as early as possible.
