Three Estonian space startups receive €180,000 in support from the European Space Agency. And Invitation to 25–27 August first ESA BIC Estonia Space Technology Bootcamp

ESA BIC Estonia, the European Space Agency’s Business Incubation Centre in Estonia, led by EEN network partner Sparkup Tartu Science Park in cooperation with Tehnopol Science and Business Park, has selected three new space sector startups in its latest application round: Triops Technologies, HETK Systems and ORMIA Systems.

Each company will receive €60,000 in development support from the European Space Agency, amounting to a total of €180,000 to further develop their space technology-based solutions.

The selected companies operate in different fields, but all three demonstrate how space technologies and space-based data can be applied to solve practical challenges on Earth.

Triops Technologies OÜ develops space situational awareness solutions that help satellite operators assess collision risks, make manoeuvring decisions and monitor space debris. HETK Systems OÜ is developing an unmanned ground system that uses satellite communication and localisation technology to support rescue operations and casualty evacuation in crisis areas. ORMIA Systems OÜ develops passive acoustic sensors to help protect critical civilian infrastructure from drone threats by combining real-time data from sensor networks with European space assets, including Galileo and Copernicus services.

According to Sven Lilla, Head of Space Technologies and ESA BIC Estonia at Tartu Science Park, the selected companies reflect the diversity and growing strength of Estonia’s space sector. Their solutions connect space technology with highly practical applications, including crisis response, infrastructure protection and space situational awareness.

The aim of ESA BIC Estonia is to support the development of space entrepreneurship and strengthen Estonia’s startup ecosystem. To date, 42 companies have joined the Estonian space business incubator – 21 in Tartu and 21 in Tallinn.

📌 Does your team have a space technology-based idea?

On 25–27 August, the first ESA BIC Estonia Space Technology Bootcamp will take place in Pärnu. The bootcamp welcomes early-stage teams that want to develop their space technology-based ideas and move towards the ESA BIC incubation programme.
