President Toomas Hendrik Ilves and President Dalia Grybauskaitė launched pre-booking of the online Lithuanian border queue reservation. Queue management system EVIS which is being developed in cooperation between Lithuania and Estonia, will start operating this year, on July 1st on the Lithuanian – Russian border Kybartai check point. Later this year the service will be expanded to the Lithuanian – Belorussian border Medininkų check point. The opening of the pre – booking took place on May 28th, 2013 during Estonian -– Lithuanian Business Forum in Vilnius.
The GoSwift electronic border queue system was developed in Estonia in 2011 by Tehnopol’s company Girf OÜ (now GoSwift OÜ) at the request of the Ministry of the Interior. The company cooperated closely with the Association of Estonian International Road Carriers.
