ESTONIA

LIFE 2026 call is opening and free expert support is available in Estonia for project preparation

Do you have a strong project idea that could help address challenges in the fields of environment, climate, nature protection or clean energy? The European Commission’s LIFE 2026 call opens on 21 April, and organisations and companies in Estonia can also receive free strategic support to prepare competitive project applications.

The LIFE programme supports projects with a clear environmental or climate impact and a strong focus on innovative, practical solutions. Depending on the strand, the funding rate is up to 60%, while clean energy transition projects can receive up to 95% support. The programme is designed to help turn ambitious ideas into projects with broader relevance and results that can also be replicated in other countries.

In Estonia, applicants can receive free expert guidance from the Ministry of Climate and the Environmental Investment Centre through the LIFE ExcelEE project. This support includes developing the project idea, aligning it with programme expectations, taking national priorities into account, and, if needed, helping to identify international partners. In addition, information days, seminars, proposal writing trainings and personal consultations are offered. If an idea is not a good fit for LIFE, applicants can also be guided towards a more suitable funding source.

It is advisable to start preparing early, as a well-developed concept and a clear impact pathway can significantly strengthen an application. More detailed information about the LIFE programme, the 2026 call and available support can be found at the link below.
